Dokbua,Thai gastronomy to its best.

When living in Playa del Carmen, we used to go to an excelent Thai restaurant named Po Thai. Everytime we had some Family or Friends coming with us, it was a total joy to have a meal there. Recently they just open one superb restaurant in Cancun. Dokbua (by Po Thai) is on avenida Huayacan. This one offers you to be seated outside but a half is covered for the “just in case”. Soon you see the massive round door you know that you are in the right place.

A very important thing for me is the way the hostess welcomes you, and there it is done with so much charm. All the staff is wearing a smile and the service is smooth with attention to details and discretion.

Its is not easy to make your choice as everything is what you wish to have. So after we finally made our choices, we ordered a nice botthe of wine. Surrounded by nice plants and with a nice music, we enjoyed our first glass.

We decided to get a few dishes and the assorted Dumplings (some were blue) was the very top of the top. Then some Chicken curry to follow but two different level of spices. Oh boy this was one of the very best we ever had. The Chef in person came to check if we were happy and YES we were. He stayed a few minutes to explain some of his recipes as all ingredients are not available here in Mexico. The Chef coming to your table was a great Cherry on the cake. He is so talented.

Could not go away without a nice dessert and we shared a delicious Creme Brulee that came with some awesome little treats.

I must say we had such a wonderful dinner. It will not possible to try again Dokbua. You feel so friendly with all the persons working there and the foods are just tremondous. You have to try it.

La Brocherie in Playa del Carmen.

The temple of Chicken French way. Roast with “Herbes de Provence under the skin”, the perfect way to enjoy a good roast chicken.

Do not expect a fancy place but go to this very friendly French restaurant out of the busy 5th avenue. Enjoy a homemade Paté, a nice cheese board and select the size of chicken you want of a homemade Cordon bleu. Quarter, half of full chicken is on the menu.

This restaurant is very pleasant, you will be warmly welcome and even if it’s chicken only, you will enjoy a great time at la Brocherie with certainly some very nice wine or other drinks.

The desserts are just amazing. I had a wonderful homemade warm Pear Clafoutis with a spoon of vanilla ice-cream while my partnet enjoyed a delicious Creme Brulee done exactly as it should be.

La Brocherie is closed on Sunday. Do not be scared, the check is affordable ! This was not our first time and certainly not our last…
